What is a Vtuber
In a more simple term, a virtual character that could be anything that you could ever imagine. You could be a twig vtuber, a nature spirit vtuber or even just a fox.
There is a lot that goes into becoming a Vtuber. You would have to consider the voice acting, the potential backstory of the VTuber, the person behind the character and the technology that goes on behind the scenes.

The idea behind the Vtuber BobaJelly
Before I even had a VTuber, I was a twitch streamer with a webcam and I streamed gaming content. There was a VTuber that I stumbled across on Twitch while watching Valorant streams. The Vtuber name was KizenVT and I also had the opportunity to collaborate with him as well. Upon visiting his streams for the first time, I was amazed by his character so much that it inspired me to become one as well.

For BobaJelly, I had this whole idea in the back of my mind that I always wanted to become a cat VTuber. The boba part of it is unique because I remember very well that I was addicted to bubble tea and still am to this very day. Jelly is based on my first name and it was also a nickname by my online friends for a long time as well. I envisioned the personality of BobaJelly as bubbly, kind, someone who loves giving hugs and not caring about what others think.
The Construction of BobaJelly
Fortunately enough I had an amazing friend named HoneyBellz. She was the one behind the sketch and the rigging of BobaJelly. When I gave her the idea and references I had for BobaJelly, she was understanding and started the process.

The first time I saw the sketch, I was stunned because my art skills could never match hers. I love how she added the Boba.
Then, she coloured in the model, and proceeded to add highlighting and shadowing to BobaJelly. HoneyBellz wanted to know if I wanted to change. I only wanted minor things that really weren’t particularly noticeable like the colours of BobaJelly’s fingernails.

The whole art of BobaJelly was basically done. The only thing missing was the physics behind the movements. The rigging part I can not explain because I do not have the knowledge on how to do it, sadly. HoneyBellz posted the rigging process on her youtube channel if you want to check it out!
After the rigging process, the BobaJelly you know today is completely done. What is your opinion on VTubers? Do you want to become one yourself?
Have a meowingful day!
